A rather quick drawing of this marvelous cousin of Quetzalcoatlus based on Mark Witton's skeletal reconstruction (here: [link])
Please don't mind that it's missing a part of the left hindlimb.

Azhdarchids are so awesome!

They are. :) The larger species were, quite probably, the only flying creatures ever to be big enough to ride on. If I were a time traveler, I would tame one.

Me too. It would be just like Dinotopia. Some scientists think they were flightless, though. :(

Well, the really big ones are known from quite crappy remains, so there has been room for many claims. What we do know about them, however, is practically just scaled up from medium-sized azdarchids, such as Zhejiangopterus and the still-undescribed Quetzalcoatlus sp., and they were definitely flying. It is very likely that the biggest ones flew as well, at least according to Mark Witton.

Ok. Cool. Who's Mark Whitton? Excuse my ignorance. :)

He's a pterosaur researcher and paleoartist. You might not recognize his name, but you can't have missed his illustrations: they accompany basically every pterosaur news article in every media I've seen in the past couple of years.

Dude, you are amazing at drawing pterosaurs! I'll have to check out Mark Witton's illustrations, too.

wow, what a bizarre animal! I saw this expecting the caption to say something like you made it up, but to find out that this was real just goes to show that mother nature is certainly more creative than I could ever be
