This was one of my random Wacom tablet exercises I made back in October. Last night I stumbled upon it again and decided to give it some colors.
This little guy is some sort of paravian, perhaps a basal troodontid, though I didn't use any particular genus as a reference. The coloration was inspired by (but not directly copied from) touracos. I thought dull dark green would be an useful camouflage for a forest animal, while the lighter face with violet and orange highlights would help in communication.
Drawn and colored in MyPaint, finished with Photoshop.
It's very pretty. Seems like some elusive animal, the kind people would wait hours in a tree stand with a pair of binoculars just to catch a glimpse of. Really liking the purple "mohawk."
Reminds me of a hoatzin, at least the face does^^
Really love the illusion of texture here (it's so fluffy!!) and the color scheme really works here, too
One of the coolest troodontid illustrations I've seen!
He would make a nice pet!
The details and colors are so beautiful! Really great work here!
Aww cute, well done
Such a beauty!
Cool. I like the pink face. Reminds me of the recently extinct pink-headed duck. I suppose you got your plausible speculation right, as you accidentally stumbled on an existing animal color pattern.
Beautiful work as always, Maija!
This is gorgeous! The details are so pretty!
